SENIOR DINNER
Every December, the Branford Rotary Club sponsors, cooks and serves a holiday dinner for Branford seniors, many of whom would otherwise spend much of the holiday season alone.
Each year we serve about 175 dinner guests with a festive meal that features hors d’oeurves, turkey and ham, a wide range of sides, and dessert. There is also singing by a Branford High School choir, a visit from Santa, and gifts for all who attend.
FOOD, FUN AND SERVICE
It's a heartwarming event for everyone who takes part as old friends gather and new friends are made. And it's a great way for Rotarians to get to know each other. Accountants and lawyers, mechanics and teachers all don aprons for the day to cook and serve and bus tables and, yes, wash an awful lot of dishes. But we have an awful lot of help from a youthful and passionate source.
INTERACT
Interact clubs bring together young people ages 12-18 to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Rotary's motto: Service Above Self. The Branford Rotary's Interact Club at Branford High School annually sends members to help with the senior dinner and many other Rotary events like the Branford Festival and Rotary/YMCA 5k and Fun Run. We couldn't do it without them.
Many of these great young adults will go on to join Rotaract, whose members are college age to their mid-20s. Their passion for service inspires every Rotarian to do what they can for their community.
If you or your son or daughter is interested in Interact - a wonderful community service opportunity - please contact their high school counselor or email us at [email protected].
