    6th Annual Golf Tournament

    The Branford Rotary Club held its 6th annual Spring Golf Classic on Monday, September 25, situated at the scenic Clinton Country Club, 128 Old Post Road, Clinton.

    The Clinton Country Club was a new venue for the event. Established in 1895, the Clinton Country Club is one of the oldest in the country. The 18-hole course, designed by Geoffrey Cornish, is both challenging and beautiful.

    The schedule included driving range & putting green, lunch, shotgun start (scramble), cocktail hour, dinner, raffle and auction.

    Prizes awarded includedLongest Drive, Men & Women Closest to the Pin, Gross Score for 1st, 2nd and last place, and HOLE-IN-ONE.

    The Branford Rotary tournament is a fundraiser for designated charities. Proceeds will benefit the Branford Counseling Center Basic Needs Program, Feed Branford Kids, local veterans’ groups, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Soundview YMCA Annual Campaign, Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, and Y-NHH Male Breast Cancer Van Wilgen Fund.

    The Branford Rotary Golf Tourney committee consists of the following members who have organized the event: Patricia Andriole, Jim Carpenter, Peter Cimino, Dean DeNegris, Dave Kozma, Chris Manna, Gerry Mann, Vince Ragonese, Doug Shaw, Hap Storer, Tony Terry, Alpha Coiro, and Ed Viscovi (event originator). Club members will work onsite the day of the tournament, assisting with food preparation, setting up signs throughout the course, and operating the silent auction.

    The Rotary Club of Branford is an organization of women and men representing a cross-section of local business and professional leaders, living and/or employed in Branford, who work as volunteers on a variety of local and international projects to improve the quality of life in their home and world communities.

    Annual Veterans Day Luncheon

    The Rotary Club of Branford annually honors all those who have served in our nation’s Armed Forces with a Veterans’ Luncheon at the Branford Italian American Club. In addition to all Veterans being invited, we will be honored with guests from the VA Blind Center, members of the VFW, and members of the American Legion.     Thanksgiving Day Y-Run Race

    On Thanksgiving morning, we co-sponsor with the Soundview Y, our Annual 5K Run/Walk and ½ Mile Kids Fun Run. After the races, participants enjoy chowder, bread, refreshments, music, awards and more….Happy Thanksgiving!

    Annual Salvation Army Bell Ringing

    One Saturday every December, the Branford Rotary Club provides volunteer bell ringers for the Salvation Army. Bell ringing takes place at 4 locations within Branford. Come find us at Walmart, Stop & Shop, Starbucks or the Branford Book & Card Shop. All proceeds including additional donations by club members are sent to the Salvation Army Southern New England Division providing services in the greater New Haven area.

    Branford Town Holiday Parade

    Members of the Rotary Club join the Branford Tree Lighting Parade on the Saturday evening of Thanksgiving weekend escorting Santa Claus to the Branford Green. Rotarians drive a fleet of classic International Harvester tractors from the collection of Rotarian Bill Van Wilgen from the Branford High School up Main Street to the green. What a way to bring in the Christmas and holiday season!

    Annual Holiday Senior Dinner

    The Rotary Club sponsors an annual Holiday Dinner for Branford Seniors in early December. We strive to give our seniors, many of whom spend the holidays alone, a chance to gather together for a full course holiday meal, with festive entertainment and a visit from Santa with a gift for all. Typically we serve 175 seniors with hor d’oeurves, a turkey and ham dinner together with all the “fixins” and dessert. Look for updated notices at the Canoe Brook Senior Center for details on how to attend.

    4th Annual Classic Car Show

    Held August 2017
    Van Wilson’s Garden Center

    The Branford Rotary Club’s 4th Annual “Classic Car Show” was held Sun Aug 20, 2017, at our fellow Rotarian Bill Van Wilgen’s Garden Center to benefit the Club’s charitable events and organizations in honor and support of veterans, including the “Take-A-Vet Fishing” program, our annual “Veterans Day Luncheon".

    This year’s event registered 168 Classic Cars, featured live music by “The Sin Sisters Band” and was well attended by over 300 spectators.

    We offered free doughnuts and coffee, sold hot dogs and hamburgers with proceeds for the fundraiser and even had a Mister Softee Ice Cream truck at the show.

    Special show car owner raffle prizes and trophies were awarded with judging by Ted Aub and Jeff Vailette as follows:
